Specialized Language Classes
Classes for Speech and Language Delay
- Classes co-taught with Libby Stiles, Licensed Speech Language Pathologist
- Classes for children diagnosed with mild to moderate speech or language delay
- Classes will be capped at 6 children to maximize their exposure with Libby
- Age range 2 through 5 - Please call for exceptions
- The main focus of class will remain music, but in an adapted environment for children with delays to feel comfortable in using their voice- both in song and in speech
- This class is designed to supplement speech language therapy that your child may also be receiving
- This is a forum to practice and generalize skills in a fun, relaxed and non-performance based setting
- Music encourages children without language or with delayed language to communicate and has developed a significant place in the treatment of developmental delay in children
- Music provides opportunities for self-expression through instrument play, finger play, gestures and singing familiar songs
- Musical activities stress nonverbal forms of communication and often surpass physical, cultural, intellectual, and emotional limitations
- Music helps children improve academic, social, emotional, communication and physical skills
