Why Baby Maestro?

Baby Maestro is proud to offer Music Pups®, an early childhood music education program developed by The Music Class, that is designed to unleash the music potential of young children. Featuring their award winning music, engaging activities, CDs and curricula, we are proud of the high standards that they set in the field of early childhood music education.

While we take our goal of educating children very seriously, we know that the key to success lies in one word—fun! Everyone has a great time in class, and children love listening to the CDs over and over again at home. Because we know that it is essential for grownups to enjoy the songs as well, we make sure our music isn’t simplistic or babyish. Parents frequently tell us how much they enjoy the music.

The Features of Baby Maestro

  • Fun Music & Movement Classes:  For children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, to attend with their parent or caregiver. Class size ranges from 7 to 12 children.
  • Nationally Acclaimed Materials: Exclusive provider of materials from The Music Class, Inc.  These materials are being used in over 30 cities in the United States and International locations including Mexico, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and France.
  • Informal Instruction:  Children participate as they choose and do so at their own developmental level.  We stimulate learning through play.
  • Mixed Age Classes:  Our activities focus on adult/child interaction rather than child/child interaction, so that children of different ages (such as siblings) can enjoy class together.
  • Instruments: Are carefully selected for age- appropriateness for young children.
  • MusicThe collections change each session.  With each new enrollment in a new session (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) you receive a CD  and Songbook.  We have enough for  over 3 years of material before we start repeating collections!

The Benefits of Baby Maestro

The time to start thinking about your child's music education is at birth.  Researchers have documented that exposure to music in early childhood has a positive effect on the brain and that the earlier you start, the better.   In fact, the most critical time in a child's musical development is from birth through age five.  The Music Pups® program is specifically designed to engage children of these ages, so that their likelihood of strong musical ability in the future is increased.  The songs are designed to expose your child to a large quantity and a wide variety of music. The collection includes a wide variety of scales, rhythms, and instrument styles to further stimulate your child's music development.

By enrolling your child in Baby Maestro, you are providing a rich musical environment for your child for forty five minutes a week.  Young children learn through repetition and modeling.  Our goal is that the parents will take the songs and activities learned in class, and repeat them for their child at home.

What Happens In Class

Moms and babies (or dads, grandparents/nannies) meet one time a week for 45 minutes.  Spring, Fall & Winter sessions run 10 weeks, and the summer session runs for 6 weeks. In each class, children and parents interact by singing songs from the collection and dancing.  Our goal is basic music competence, which means being able to sing in tune and keep a steady beat.  We teach rhythm through movement and through instrument play.  Children use instruments such as drums, cymbals, bells, egg shakers, triangles, maraquitas, and Hi-Lo tone blocks.  Every collection includes fun, upbeat and humorous songs, that offer a variety of tonalities and meters, and a mix of original and traditional songs.  Some songs will be sung with the CD, but many songs and activities are done A Capella, which promotes creativity and spontaneity.

Singing fosters the development of your child's most important instrument, the voice, through vocal exploration, songs and chants.

Moving develops body awareness, coordination and spatial relationships, through synchronized movement, creative movement and simple dances.

Playing instruments introduces a variety of musical timbres with percussive instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingle bells, resonator bars and more.

Creating stimulates your child's imagination and encourages self expression with sound and movement.

Patterning boosts your child's ability to think musically through the integration of basic rhythmic and tonal language.

Listening cultivates your child's heightened attentiveness to sound discrimination.

Exploring timbre, dynamics, tempo and pitch lays the foundation for conceptualization of elements of music.
